In honor of the upcoming birthday of the late Doris Day (April 3, 1922 - May 13, 2019), here's a tribute to one of her best-loved and best-remembered films - the iconic rom-com "Pillow Talk" (1959) for which she received her one and only Oscar nomination. The handsome Rock Hudson proved he had great comedic timing and the two had great chemistry right off the bat. Tony Randall and Thelma Ritter co-starred in this movie that was undoubtedly the inspiration for many of the romantic comedies to come. Doris was costumed elegantly throughout by Jean Louis. Title tune performed by Doris. Enjoy!

A tribute to Alice Faye (May 5, 1915 – May 9, 1998) and her most frequent male co-star, Don Ameche (May 31, 1908 – December 6, 1993). They were an adorable screen team (and as both were good singers, they were an ideal teaming for musicals at their home studio, 20th Century Fox). In all, they appeared in six films together, all of which have had official DVD releases. Don said in later years that Alice was his favorite leading lady. Alice recorded the song, Its Swell Of You in 1937.

The lovely and talented Madge Evans (July 1, 1909 - April 26, 1981) was a popular leading lady at MGM in the 1930s (she began her career in silent films as a child actress, then billed as Baby Madge). She appeared alongside such notable talents as Marie Dressler, John Barrymore, Jean Harlow, Al Jolson, Clark Gable, James Cagney, Ramon Novarro, Helen Hayes, Robert Montgomery, Robert Young, and Bing Crosby, just to name a few. She retired from the screen in 1938 but made television guest appearances in the 1950s. I always enjoy watching her; she projected warmth and sincerity, and she established great chemistry with her leading men. The song used in the video is What Is This Thing Called Love?, performed by the Leo Reiman Orchestra and Bubber Miley, recorded in 1930. Enjoy!
