Rivian Adventure Network San Bernardino just went full NACS — and my Gen 2 R1S still runs CCS, so now I need an adapter every single time I charge here.
That's just the start. I'm also getting into the R2 Gen 3 vs Gen 2 question a lot of you have been asking about, the Cybertruck PCS issue that's hitting VINs under 40,000, the Tesla Model S and X Signature Edition farewell, Tesla's Japan expansion, and why I still edit every single video myself even when it slows everything down.
On the charging side — my Gen 2 large pack is spiking to 170+ kW then immediately dropping to around 100. Not what I expected from a 300 kW capable station. If you've got a Gen 2 large pack, I genuinely want to know if you're seeing the same thing.
The R2 conversation is real: first batches ship with Gen 2 autonomy hardware, not Gen 3. No retrofit path. Rivian's in-house RAP1 processor and LiDAR are Gen 3 only. I break down exactly when it makes sense to buy now vs wait.
Cybertruck owners — if your VIN is under 40,000, check your home charging speed. PCS failures are dropping 48A charge rates down to 24A. Mine is VIN 41,000 so I'm cautiously clear, but worth knowing.
