Residents mock council after they rip up £300k 'Wotsit Street'

Council chiefs in Merseyside have been ridiculed for tearing down a £300,000 on a road-calming scheme which looked like 'Giant Wotsits'. The paintings - which cover the pavement and the road - were introduced by Wirral Council as part of a trial one-way system with hopes of calming traffic. Residents say they are even more cheesed off after the council announced the £300,000 project - which also included planters and benches - will now be removed. The council said they will retain the one-way traffic system on Grange Road West, but the orange road surfacing and structures that formed part of the pilot scheme will all be removed.
