This incredible specimen of Dendrobium fimbriatum var. oculatum was from the collection of Joe Crawford, an expert grower who began collecting in the early 60's and amassed a fantastic selection of Australian Dendrobiums, Cymbidiums, Cattleyas, Asiatic Dendrobiums and many more. He grew many prize winning specimens and was a judge at the various orchid shows throughout the state. Unfortunately Joe succumbed to dementia and his collection had to be dispersed which I helped with: youtube.com/shorts/UEtQaNZDxbo?si=0KBSiL5ia8CRiCfF And I was lucky enough to come home with this amazing plant! It was in bloom when I brought it home - a little late in the season really - but it had been in quite a neglected state for over a year. So in this video we'll remove the plant from the plastic pot its well and truly grown into, and re-pot it into a handsome terracotta pot that's just a bit bigger. There's quite a lot of dead material to remove too so gloves and some sterilized secateurs are in order!
