Pourers, for the first time in a long time, to replenish bygone stock—I’ve got two left in fact, lonely things and I had an urge to make some spouts, a process which I never feel I’m actually very good at as it’s my least practised technique. The first few attempts are always trashed, in fact I normally begin by throwing a tall cylinder that I pull handle spouts in, I then slice off the rim, level and bevel the lip, and pull another round until things click.

As these the dry the forms loosen, especially the lip, which goes from being very defined, to rather splayed out as the clay is slowly drawn back into its circular shape. Hence, all the fiddling around I do at the start of this video to keep them refined.

Let’s just hope they pour well, but I need to show you the rather absurd trimming before I can move onto testing them.
