In this video I show you how to repair any metal Optimus stove case using silver brazing. It's a simple, low-tech way to repair these cases in the home shop without the need for expensive welders.
Keep your metal absolutely clean. Use wet-dry carbide sandpaper to clean the metal. Use the correct and easiest-to-use brazing supplies. Don't use home-brew products! They don't work as well.
Brazing supplies can be found on Amazon or eBay. Search for the following product names that are within quotes.
Silver brazing wire: " Harris Safety Silv 50n "
Black flux for steel and other ferrous metals: " Stay-Silv® Black Flux "
Use these two products for steel stove cases.The nickel in the 50n promotes much better flow out than non-nickel silver brazing wire.
Paint? Dupli-Color Medium Maui Blue BGM0423 is the closest off-the-shelf match I've found for the most common of the Optimus blue paints and is what is used on the stove case in this video.
