In this week's video, I'm explaining 3 major mistakes I often see beginners make when choosing reference photos for drawing or painting purposes.

These mistakes can make your art-making process much more difficult than it needs to be and can also hold you back from developing your skills to a higher level.

It's essential that, if you're using photos, you know how to choose them.

Ever since the camera was invented and made accessible to the general public, artists have been using photos as references out of practicality.

And, of course, each artist uses references in their own unique way, depending on the results/styles they are after, and what they enjoy doing.

If you'd like to learn more about how artists use photos to create unique, engaging art, check out this blog post. 👉erikalancaster.com/art-blog/an-artists-guide-to-using-references-pt1-when-and-how-to-use-other-peoples-photographs-to-create-art
