Andy Rawll, from Record Collector Magazine, meant double trouble, when he met Reese in a former courthouse holding cell at a central London hotel to talk about this new release and how it reflects his own career, the gigs and tours, the music and musicians that he has met along the way. With a fifty year career that started alongside Dickey Betts in the late 60s, leading to five years with Stevie Ray Vaughan (1985-90), Reese is finally releasing his debut solo album 'Sweet Release' on 1st March 2019 via Provogue/Mascot Label Group.
Having joined Joe Bonamassa's band (following Derek Sherinian) in 2014, the album also marks his current boss's first outing as producer and includes guest appearances from Joe and other bandmates, alongside friends and associates from throughout his illustrious career, including Warren Haynes, Sam Moore, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Keb' Mo'.
Best of all, the album sees the core of the much-missed Stevie Ray Vaughan's band reunited, with Wynans, Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon revisiting 'Crossfire', 'Say What!' and 'Riviera Paradise' with reverential and joyful results.
