The legendary bass player, songwriter and collaborator talks about his long musical association and friendship with Gary Moore, from the early 80s until the great guitarist's final encore in 2011.
In this interview with Andy Rawll, for Record Collector Magazine, Bob talks about the making of the tribute album 'More Blues for Gary' that was released by earMUSIC in October 2018.
The represents a labour of love for a good friend and celebration of the wide-range of the blues-based songs for which Gary is so well known.
Best of all, Bob has been able to call upon his stellar network of friends and fellow musicians to contribute their considerable talents to the project. This has resulted in a selection of 13 songs, with every single one blessed by an all-star cast.

14:11 - 'The blues just got sadder' is not a song that Gary Moore recorded, it was co-written with Bob's longtime friend from Melbourne band Khavas Jute, Dennis Wilson, and recorded with Jon Lord on the 'Hoochie Coochie Men' live album. Steve Lukather from Toto plays on the new album version, with Joe Lynn Turner on vocals.
16:48 - 'Empty rooms' features original co-writer and Moore band-mate Neil Carter on lead vocals. The original is not really a blues track, but this new arrangement is more bluesy, so seems to fit well.
18:17 - 'This one's for you' features Gus and Jack Moore, Gary's sons. It's the second Dennis Wilson track on the album, co-written with Bob originally as a song submission for legendary American blues musician and Hendrix contemporary Guitar Shorty. The lyric also has nice resonance and message and endorses the Moore family approval of the tribute project.
19:44 - Gary recorded his own tribute albums and recordings based on Peter Green 'Blues for Greeny' and Jimi Hendrix. Hence, the real shame that Peter Green was not able or available to contribute to the album
