The sound of its calling alerted me to its presence among the swaying bamboo. I noticed with amusement, that this Red-whiskered Bulbul was actually grasping a grasshopper in its bill while calling repeatedly. Curiously, it made no attempts to eat its juicy catch, which suggests that it was possibly saving the treat for its little ones somewhere.
It was not alone. Its companion was perched to its left, and both were actually calling in unison.
Both finally flew off after a considerable length of time.
Red-whiskered bulbuls are a common introduced resident in Singapore.
They are prized for their singing prowess and are very popular in the pet trade.
