Red Mountain is a 5.8 mile out-and-back hike in the Mojave Desert with 2,100 feet of elevation gain. The trail climbs a volcanic cone with steep, loose terrain and minimal shade. Views from the summit span the surrounding desert, and the route passes through areas with volcanic geology and historical mining remnants. Best hiked in cooler months due to heat and exposure. No permit required, but bring extra water and expect slow going on the ascent.
