On today's adventure, we're heading to the city in search of one of the most famous pit viper species in North America, and show you just how close to people these snakes are capable of living! As we explore old roads, littered woods, and piles of debris, we're gonna be getting up close with some of the most incredible rattlesnakes Louisiana has to offer! Canebrake Rattlesnakes (more commonly referred to as timber rattlesnakes) are one of the most widespread rattlesnake species found in the eastern United States, and are responsible for many fatal snake bites throughout the decades. These venomous snakes can grow upwards of six feet in length, and have a bite that can easily kill a person if not treated. A rattlesnakes strike can often reach at least two third it's own body length, so it's important to give these snakes some space if you ever encounter one. Rattlesnakes are a very special animal, that do their very best to avoid people, however, as shown in this video, they're being pushed closer and closer to urban areas. While extremely dangerous when disturbed, these snakes are quite docile, and will only strike in self defense. If you ever encounter one, do your best to avoid it, and if one has made it's home near or around people, it's always best to call a professional, as most bites do occur when trying to move or kill these snakes.
