I fixed a Xbox 360 controller clone (Easy SMX) for a neighbour. Nothing Earth shattering. The right hand analogue stick didn't go up or down.

In this video, I replace the offending stick and make the parts sourced from Ebay fit this particular model. Fwiw, I think the controller was using gimbals based on the PS2.

I assumed that these parts would be interchangeable - a clone Xbox controller would suit Ebay parts described as for Xbox controllers. I was wrong...
