Welcome to the Autumn edition of Rail Around New South Wales for 2026 where we'd covered heritage trips from February to May. First we see electric train action from Historic Electric Traction with their S set making two trips to the Sydney Tramway Museum in Loftus in Southern Sydney for their annual Tramway festival. Then we see the 'Red Rattler' doing trips from Sydney to Oatley to celebrate 100 years of electric trains in NSW.
Then we see some steam action starting with R766 from The Picnic Train taking passengers to Goulburn in the Southern Tablelands for the annual Goulburn show. Then we see 3526 from Transport Heritage NSW doing two trips to Kiama in the Illawarra South Coast. Then we take a brief look at 3265 from the Powerhouse Museum and 3526 returning to Concord West with booked passengers after attending the Hunter Valley Steamfest for 2026.
Then we see the relaunch of the Grafton XPT service at Sydney's Central Station with XP2006 and XP2009 repainted into the Intercity candy livery that was once common on NSW Railways during the 1980's and 1990's. Then we take a look at another preview, this time of the Thirlmere Festival of Steam with 3001, 3265 and 3526 triple heading at night from Picton to Thirlmere.
We then conclude with 3265 and 3526 taking a day trip from Picton to Goulburn.
