Please read the notes below for extra info!

This video covers the basics of importing your height map, textures and masks from Gaea to UE4. We do not go in depth into the shaders for UE4 here, this is just the general information. Dealing with large imports, dealing with powers of 2 maps instead of UE4 res, dealing with Zscale, dealing with texture alignment and a few things to look out for both with export and import.

Notes: If you use one of the special export numbers from Gaea in the Build panel "Additional Options" "Resample". 1009, 2017, 4033, 8129. You will need to keep the 17x17 (you're no longer using a power of 2) and your "special number" for mapping will be the same as the resolution of your map, it doesn't change. There also will be some performance benefits. This basically means you change NOTHING from the defaults if you use one of those special export resolutions.

Lasty, you XY scale in UE4 is linked to the size of your terrain height map. So if I imported the same map at 2k size instead of 4k, my Zscale would be 400 instead of 800.

As always, I hope this video is useful.
