Pseudomugil luminatus β Red Neon Blue-eye π₯π by ShChil
Pseudomugil luminatus is a small but striking rainbowfish relative from southern New Guinea, Indonesia. It inhabits shallow, slow-moving swamp habitats, often with soft, slightly acidic and tannin-stained water surrounded by dense vegetation.
Males reach only around 2β2.5 cm, but develop an impressive orange-red body, a bright neon-blue line along the back and beautifully spotted fins. The species was scientifically described in 2016 and was previously often traded as Pseudomugil cf. paskai βRed Neonβ.
Despite its tiny size, it is one of the most colourful blue-eyes in the aquarium hobby. πβ¨
