Small, striking, and full of character — Stonogobiops nematodes, also known as the Blackray Shrimp Goby.
Native to the Indo-Pacific, this tiny goby is famous for its beautiful yellow face, bold dark body bands, and its elegant long dorsal filament. In nature, it often lives in a symbiotic partnership with pistol shrimps. The shrimp digs and maintains the burrow, while the goby stands guard — a perfect example of teamwork in the reef.
Reaching only around 4–5 cm, Stonogobiops nematodes is best kept in calm aquariums with fine sand, hiding places, and peaceful tank mates.
