Paracheirodon simulans – The Green Neon Tetra 💚🐟
One of the smallest members of the neon tetra group, Paracheirodon simulans grows to only around 2–2.5 cm.
It originates from the upper Rio Negro and upper Orinoco basins in Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela.
The species name “simulans” comes from Latin and means “resembling” or “imitating” – fitting for a fish that looks remarkably similar to its close neon relatives. Its English name Green Neon Tetra refers to the brilliant blue-green iridescent stripe running almost the entire length of its body.
