With apologies for the long delay, here is the third video in the Protos series of videos. Atmospheric and somewhat calmer than the first two videos, this is a beautiful track in 5/4.
On this one, I have hardlly changed anything from what the programmed drums are on the original. I love the rimshot placement - not something I would have thought to add had I been the original drummer! And I love the occasional open hi hat thing too :-)
My only additions in the first part of the track are the ghost notes on snare and little fills and crashes. The quiet cymbal part is not on the original - but being a drummer, I obviously could not bear to sit still and do nothing in this bit!!!
The 'middle 8' if I can call it that is fun. Except that Rory went and kept an open hi hat thing going on with the programmed drums, and that makes this a bit more awkward - 'cos you are busy trying to groove over on the ride, and you got to keep going back to the hi hat!!! The addition of the ride bell hits was something I came up with, and just seemed to fit nicely, to my ears :-)
The big tom fill crescendo thing is not on the original - but it just felt like the right thing to do at this point. The outro is pretty much as it is on the original, except I added ghost notes and a couple of fills.

Next up - two very difficult Protos tracks, including my personal favourite! I hope to record them this weekend :-) and will post them on here over the coming weeks.
For the geeks out there: you might bne interested to note that the audio in THIS video is actually in synch with the film. In recent months, YT has been shifting my audio track by what turns out to be +3/10ths of a second. Grrrrrrrr. So I very cleverly shifted my audio minus 3/10ths of a second, and then sent the un-synched video to YT.............
Ta da!
