Did you know that in the EU, minors cannot be targeted by online target ads?
Under the Digital Services Act, targeted advertising is not allowed for minors. This Act is supported by a team of scientists from the European Centre for Algorithmic Transparency (ECAT), part of the Joint Research Centre of the @EuropeanCommission.
JRC scientists are helping the EU better understand the world of algorithms and regulate online activities. Also, they are studying the long-term impacts of algorithmic systems, to help the EU develop future-proof policies.

The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is starting the construction of its new permanent site in Seville, Spain. It will be a symbol of sustainability and innovation, the first net-positive energy building of its kind, fully embodying the *New European Bauhaus* principles.
The groundbreaking ceremony of the building was celebrated on 30 June 2025 in Seville with President von der Leyen, Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation, Ekaterina Zaharieva, Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy, Jessika Roswall, and Spanish authorities.
