The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is starting the construction of its new permanent site in Seville, Spain. It will be a symbol of sustainability and innovation, the first net-positive energy building of its kind, fully embodying the *New European Bauhaus* principles.
The groundbreaking ceremony of the building was celebrated on 30 June 2025 in Seville with President von der Leyen, Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation, Ekaterina Zaharieva, Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy, Jessika Roswall, and Spanish authorities.
