While there are many legends in San Diego county, since 1960, none is more popular than the legend of the Proctor Valley Monster. While unquantifiable, the monster is rumored to have menaced cars, scared cattle, and other monsterly things. In addition to the monster, Proctor Valley is rumored to be the site of a ghost or demon car, angry spirits, or the infamous "Blue People". While Proctor Valley may or may not have these things, it does have a dirt road that connects Jamul to Eastlake, and it does have some ruins, some hiking trails, some vernal pools, and some biking routes. If you are looking for a backcountry adventure just outside of San Diego, this is a great scenic spot, especially in the spring. If you are looking for a monster, ghosts, or other things, you unfortunately may be sadly disappointed, as seen in the video.
