李대통령, 첫 개각서 6개 부처 장관 인선 '역동성•전문성' 중폭 교체
The Blue House unveiled a larger-than-expected Cabinet reshuffle on Sunday.
While the government had been expected to fill vacant ministerial posts and gradually replace other Cabinet members, President Lee Jae Myung instead named six new minister nominees at once.

One year and three months into office, the Lee Jae Myung administration is getting its first major Cabinet reshuffle.
President Lee on Sunday nominated six new ministers across key economic, security, and social policy posts.
For Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economy, Lee tapped the ministry's current First Vice Minister Lee Hyoung-il.
He is a veteran technocrat who has spent more than three decades in public service.
"Having led the introduction of fuel price caps amid soaring oil prices from the Middle East, we believe he is capable of turning strong economic figures into tangible improvements in people's lives."
It was a similar choice for the Land Ministry, with Second Vice Minister Hong Jee-sun chosen for the top job.
By promoting sitting vice ministers, the president appears to be opting for continuity and faster execution in his economic and housing policies.
For defense minister, Lee chose former Deputy Commander of the ROK-U.S. Combined Forces Command, retired four-star general Kang Shin-chul.
This comes as Seoul faces a number of major defense tasks, including the transfer of wartime operational control and plans to integrate the country's military academies.
The president turned to lawmakers for the three other nominations.
Ruling Democratic Party lawmaker and former judge Kim Seung-won has been named justice minister.
Kim currently serves as the party's executive secretary on the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee.
He has openly backed the administration's judicial reform agenda, including the separation of investigative and prosecutorial powers.
Two-term DP lawmaker Lee So-young, meanwhile, has been nominated to lead the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
The post has been vacant since July, when former minister Han Seong-sook stepped down to become prime minister.
But Lee also reached beyond his own party.
Yong Hye-in, leader of the progressive Basic Income Party, has been named Minister of Gender Equality and Family.
"The nominee has been a strong voice for the socially vulnerable on issues including preventing digital sex crimes and improving work-family balance.
She is the right person to help bridge generational and gender divides and advance gender equality together with the younger generation."
If appointed, the 36-year-old would become the youngest Cabinet minister in Korean history.
The nominees must now undergo confirmation hearings at the National Assembly, although parliamentary approval is not required for their appointment.
The Blue House says the choices were based strictly on capability, with the goal of delivering changes that people can actually feel.
With Lee's approval rating on the decline in recent weeks, people will be watching closely to see whether the reshuffle can help reverse that trend.
