South Korea is seeing a record number of foreign workers under its E-9 Non-Professional-Employment visa
with the total surpassing 2-hundred-87-thousand as of July.
But nearly eight in ten of them are concentrated in manufacturing while labor shortages persist in the service and construction sectors.
Accordingly lawmaker Kim Wi-sang has called for a tailored labor supply system to address the needs of each sector rather than simply adjusting the overall quota.
