5년만에 16개 광역지자체 수출 모두 증가…반도체 빼도 늘었다
Turning to the economy, Korea's strong semiconductor exports have had a positive effect on local governments.
Exports from all 16 major provincial and metropolitan governments across the country increased this year, with chips having provided major boosts to regional manufacturing hubs.
The Korea Customs Service claims combined exports reached 595-point-1 billion U.S. dollars from January to July, marking the first across-the-board growth in five years.
Gyeonggi-do Province posted the largest export volume at over 195 billion dollars, followed by Chungcheongnam-do Province, and Ulsan city.
Jeju Island, recorded the highest export growth rate among all regions, with exports surging more than 280 percent.
Growth has extended beyond semiconductors, with exports rising across all regions.
