European Council President António Costa expressed full solidarity with Germany after the recent attack attributed to Russia.
Speaking in Luxembourg during his Tour des Capitales, Costa said Europe stands with all EU countries — and others — facing Russian threats, hybrid attacks or direct aggression.
His message to Moscow was clear: this is the time to stop the war against Ukraine, not to escalate it or expand aggression against others.
Costa warned that Russia must understand that its threats and attacks will not change the European Union’s position.
He said the EU’s stance is rooted in the fundamental values of international law, respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity and peace.
Costa also stressed that the war has already lasted longer than the First World War, warning that war is not the road to peace — and escalation is not the road to peace either.
