Pranav Ranjit | Pranav Ranjit - Batrachoi for cello quartet and recorded audio @towardthesea_ | Uploaded November 2019 | Updated October 2024, 5 hours ago.
"Batrachoi" was inspired by one of the many manifestations of nature in my hometown in northern Illinois. One day, while walking past a bog over spring break, I was particularly struck by a group of frogs that croaked incessantly - sonically lighting up an otherwise quiet village - and decided to record them. The interplay between the rhythmic constancy of this recording and the varying textures and tonal colors of the celli forms the crux of the piece.
