What are people saying about the soon-to-be Princess Meghan Markle?
Vocativ analyzed over half a million tweets about the new royal lady to see which of her attributes are most in focus.
The largest number of tweets, over 65K, listed Markle's career. In addition, 23K other tweets mentioned her American nationality. Nearly 22K tweeted about Markle's mixed-race background. Only a few thousand tweets focused on her being divorced.
Despite some racist tweets and messages critical of her previous divorce, most Twitter users reacted positively. They're proud of Markle's heritage and are focused on her career.
Suggestions that Markle will be England's first bi-racial princess are still being contested. In the past, her divorce also would've made it illegal to marry the prince.
But Markle's engagement news does signify a shift for the Royal Family, which is becoming more open and inclusive.
