I’ve covered Fighting and Psychic; this is my Grass deck. Pokémon Trading Card Game Live provides you with a Decidueye ex and Vivillon deck, which is annoying to fight and can be punishing if you’re slower than it, but here is my take on the type, instead using Serperior from Perfect Order, alongside Serperior ex from Black Bolt. Serperior is one of the less thought-about fully evolved first-partner Pokémon (and is available to use in Pokémon Champions), so it is pretty rare to see the Snivy line turn up twice in the same format.

The game plan for this deck, ideally, is to begin with Serperior ex, whose Ability, “Regal Cheer,” increases damage for all of your Pokémon by 20 and has an attack for 1 Grass and 3 Colorless, Rule the Grass, does 150 (170 after the “Regal Cheer” boost) and allows you to pick any three cards from the deck and put them into your hand. With fewer hand disruption cards, and the relatively low damage making it unlikely to score the knockout needed to activate Unfair Stamp, it’s pretty likely you can hold onto those three cards. Though the best cards to pick will vary based on the situation, if there’s nothing else urgently needed, I’ll pick up Rosa’s Encouragement, Naveen or an Ultra Ball to discard Rosa’s Encouragement, and something needed to set up the non-ex Serperior, the one from Perfect Order.
Perfect Order Serperior, meanwhile, has far less HP due to being a 1-Prize Pokémon but has two attacks. The second one, Solar Coiling, is the one to go for: if Rosa’s Encouragement is in the discard pile (just 1 will do), it’ll do 250 damage, which can also be increased with “Regal Cheer.” If you cannot get enough Energy on it (at 3 Grass Energy, it is pretty steep too), for just 1 Grass Energy, there’s Regal Command, which does 20 damage times the number of Pokémon you have in play, including itself. Not a lot of damage, but it’ll do in a pinch, and with a full enough Bench, their Active Pokémon won’t have enough to withstand Solar Coiling.
The high Energy requirements for both Serperior is why Meganium is in this deck: its Ability, “Wild Growth,” doubles the Grass Energy I have in play, but that translates in this deck to halving those Energy requirements, reducing them down to 2 Grass Energy for Command the Grass or Solar Coiling. Once set up, the match becomes smooth sailing, even against decks like Mega Lucario ex that can do more damage. The reason why I don’t use Growing (Grass) Energy in this deck, despite it being the third Special Energy featured in Perfect Order, is because Meganium’s “Wild Growth” applies only to Basic Grass Energy. Growing (Grass) Energy supplies only 1 Grass Energy, which would work on Meganium and Serperior but not Serperior ex, who needs 4 Energy to attack, the one fully evolved Pokémon in this deck who could use the +20 HP boost it grants. Growing (Grass) Energy also does not work with Rosa’s Encouragement.
Since this features Stage 2 Pokémon ex (both Meganium and Serperior happen to be fully-evolved first partner Pokémon), Forest of Vitality and Dawn are a must to get that Energy out quickly. The high number of Grass Pokémon and Basic Grass Energy means Bug-Catching Set is good at getting them into your hand, even if they’re not always the ones you’re looking for. Secret Box is a means to help you find Forest of Vitality and maybe discard Rosa’s Encouragement too. Of course, if you happen to be behind on Prizes, Rosa’s Encouragement can be played directly to accelerate Energy, as Serperior, Serperior ex, and Meganium are all Stage 2 Pokémon.
This is not the last you’ll be seeing of this Meganium—I have another deck I made this season with it. I also get the feeling there is something better I can use with Serperior ex, but I’m not sure what.
