Hello! It's been a while. Here I am with my first piece of 2019.
With the newly announced Pokémon Sword and Shield, I just had to create a fan-made theme or two. This is a piece for "Route 1", i.e. the first route of the game, the easiest of routes, the safest of routes (safe and easy could describe my piece if I was being critical ;) )
The region of Galar is an England-inspired land, so what better music to pastiche than British Light Music. There have always been influences from Elgar and Vaughan-Williams in my composition work, so this was familiar ground for me.
My composition here is a bit wobbly, and a little rushed, but with my limited time now I didn't want this to be sitting in the "to-do" folder along with the hundreds of other unfinished pieces. I'm fairly happy with it, but I know I could do better. To make up for it, I'd like to go a Gameboy version and a Nintendo DS version (coming soon!)
As for the new game - not really sure tbh! Initial impressions of the new Pokémon were meh, there are far more creative fan-made Mon out there. Sobble is by far the best-designed, and charmingly-named too - I mean, Scorbunny? Come on, man...
Hope you enjoy this one. Not the most creative or exciting piece to release after a 7-8 month hiatus, but hey ho.
