Before I put up Season 10 footage (I’ll likely skip some seasons after this, as the big stuff is done for now, unless they announce something else like Mega Watchog or something), here is the rest of Season 9. Like earlier, I used the trio consisting of Scrafty, Tinkaton, and Noivern. It always feels so satisfying seeing Tinkaton knock out an opponent’s Pokémon with her giant hammer. A lot more so than when Amy does it in Sonic games, and I don’t really know why.
00:00 - Match #1
Stage: Wild Zone 3
Music: Lumiose City in Crisis
Draco Meteor takes a long time to hit, but it feels really satisfying when it does too. It’s hard to top summoning meteors shooting down (and for similar reasons, moves like Rock Slide are nice score points with too.) Noivern gets the least screentime of the three of them though.
03:51 - Match #2
Stage: Wild Zone 3
Music: Mega Rayquaza
For the record, the way Gigaton Hammer works here is that instead of being unable to use it consecutively like in the regular games, its cooldown time, before you can use the move again, is absurdly long. As a result, if you’re going to use Gigaton Hammer, you really don’t want it to miss, or at least have a fallback alternate move in case it does. Thus, you’ll see me only use Gigaton Hammer if I believe it will knock out an opponent (which isn’t always correct).
07:40 - Match #3
Stage: Quasartico, Inc.
Music: Wild Pokémon
Poor Pauline, getting left in the dust with no points this whole match long while everyone else scores 5 or more points. This must have been a frustrating experience for them. At least you no longer lose points playing matches online.
11:32 - Match #4
Stage: Wild Zone 3
Music: Canari
That Morpeko was ridiculously fast and hard to catch! Was that an effect of Aura Wheel, which normally grants you a Speed boost in the standard turn-based system? Maybe I ought to try out Morpeko sometime in a later season. (I already finalized my Season 10 team though.)
15:21 - Match #5
Stage: Vert Sector 6
Music: Trainer
This was a low-scoring match, with people using pretty defensive options like Swampert and (the usual) Metagross. In addition, the scores stayed close to each other, even if I was the last one to start scoring knockouts.
19:10 - Match #6
Stage: Wild Zone 3
Music: Jacinthe
There is also something kind of funny about how Scrafty, in its regular form, holds up its shed skin, leaving it without any hands free—and when it Mega Evolves, continues to keep its hands in some pockets on that tougher shed skin. Even when it uses punching moves, like this one using Drain Punch.
22:58 - Match #7
Stage: Wild Zone 3
Music: Hyperspace Lumiose Alpha Pokémon
This match did not promote me a rank, but I wanted to keep this one because 12 knockouts is my highest amounts yet for any online match, and with it, I gained 220 points for ranking up. People kept bringing in Pokémon weak to Fighting! Aaron got no knockouts at all though.
26:47 - Match #8
Stage: Vert Sector 6
Music: Super Ancient Pokémon
I said it felt nice to knock out an opposing Pokémon with a swing of Tinkaton’s hammer…it’s even more so when it’s a big Mega Evolution that flies around, like Mega Clefable or Mega Garchomp. Kind of fitting considering Tinkaton is known for attacking Pokémon who fly, like Corviknight.
I also got the medal for “Total Type Master” with this one, having obtained a minimum bronze medal for all 18 types. The last one, as seen here, was Dark. I thought it’d be Dragon for sure.
30:42 - Match #9
Stage: Wild Zone 3
Music: Zygarde (10% Forme)
Is that a Jumbo Variety Gourgeist? And an Alpha one on top of that? That must’ve been a difficult catch, considering that’s the rarest variety and a rare trait. Or is the Alpha Gourgeist in Wild Zone 15 at night always a Jumbo Variety? They got their 2 points early on though, but were not able to score any further points in this match.
34:32 - Match #10
Stage: Wild Zone 3
Music: Rogue Mega Evolution
I was able to get some knockouts with Noivern (it seems the higher up the ranks I got, the more useful Noivern became), though despite carrying Wood Hammer on Tinkaton, I was never quite able to knock out that Swampert. Would be nice if she was smart enough not to walk into the Earthquake attacks Swampert was doing.
38:22 - Match #11
Stage: Wild Zone 3
Music: Canari
That Sirfetch’d was unusually hard to catch up to, and unusually resilient. Even with a Fairy Pokémon with a Fairy attack though, Mega Absol Z remains a colossal pain to fight. I wonder how it’ll be like when made available in Pokémon Champions.
