I am already a season behind in putting up these videos—I’m not going to be TWO seasons behind!So I’m going to put this up now before it’s too late. (Same goes for the SpringFest 2026 video I forgot to put up before the Splatoon Raiders Splatfest begins.) For this season,in case you missed the previous video or forgot (it has been a while), I brought in Morpeko, Craboinable, and Palossand. Crabominable is there because I made mention of putting it onto a team eventually, and here it is.
I will not be participating in Season 12 due to the 2 Restricted Pokémon rule. Having one around in everyone’s team was annoying enough; I didn’t want to put up with 2 of them, particularly Xerneas, Rayquaza, Mewtwo, and Kyogre running amok everywhere. Are there a lot of fans of having these Restricted Pokémon around?

Music: Lysandre
The reason I wanted to use Morpeko is because it’s so tiny, yet packs a wallop for something its size without being a Special Pokémon itself—it’s just a hamster with a huge appetite. In this battle, foes it defeats are Charizard, Greninja, and Yveltal.

Stage: Vert Sector 6
Music: Hyperspace Lumiose Alpha Pokémon
Palossand may not so that much on this team, but I value this one for being a special-attacking Ground type. A lot of Pokémon have high Defense but low Sp. Defense that are popular in Legends: Z-A PvP regardless of format—Melmetal is one such Pokémon, and Palossand can defeat them effortlessly. Not having Water Compaction does hurt though. How does that Dondozo move so fast? I also forgot Kecleon is in this game.)

One thing that came to my attention starting around these ranks was that after Morpeko uses Aura Wheel, it has to stand there, vulnerable, as it transforms between Hangry Mode and Full Belly Mode. This soon becomes a liability as people will attack Morpeko during those moments when it’s defenseless, and even a Focus Sash cannot help it. As a result, I struggled more with this team compared to previous ones.

Music: Team Flare Nouveau
The reason for Palossand in this team is because Morpeko and Crabominable both have a Fighting-type weakness, and I needed something that could reliably fight them, or at last the ones i most commonly see (like Lucario). I also saw that I didn’t have much I could use to deal with Steel-types (like Lucario, but also Melmetal and Magearna).

Music: Team MZ Showdown
Unlike most of the other Pokémon I bring into the Z-A Battle Club, Morpeko is not an Alpha Pokémon. It doesn’t need the increased range, and it being so small makes it harder to target. That cooldown time after Aura Wheel did cause Morpeko to get ganged upon though, everybody itching for that point to gain.

Music: Legendary Pokémon
The thing about this team is that I often place 1st or last, and not much in between, especially at the higher ranks. Every now and then, I’ll get a match like this where I’m barely able to do anything while the opponent can catch each other off guard. They’ll dodge just in time, all the time.

Music: Jacinthe
I got one point early on, the third player to score one point, though I didn’t make much progress later on. Kind of surprised I was able to win that duel between my Palossand and their Xerneas though, considering I kind of associate Xerneas in battle with near-impenetrable Sp. Defense thanks to Geomancy.

I remember using Mr. Rime in a previous season as a counter-meta pick, to fight Garchomp, Gyarados, and Feraligatr. Mr. Rime is no less valid now, except there is also now Rayquaza, Swampert, and Kyogre to hit with Freeze-Dry. I can see why I’d find someone using Mr. Rime at a high rank. Interesting to see both Porygon2 and Porygon-Z in use, though I was having a lot of trouble breaking through the former’s Eviolite-bolstered defenses.

This match was characterized by “never quite enough.” Many times, I attacked an opposing Pokémon and put their HP in the red, but they still had a switch-out available and used it to protect themselves.
