Pokemon Red/Blue: Final Battle vs. Rival - Metal Cover @matthewbeckham

This cover went through many stages. It started off as the Intro music from Red/Blue, but after wasting a day arranging that, I realized it sucked and promptly deleted it. Then I decided to do the Final Battle music, and after recording everything I realized I didn't like most of the leads. So i deleted those as well. Instead of deleting the whole thing, I decided to keep the rhythms/bass and do all the leads with orchestral stuff. When that was done, the guitarist in me wanted leads back in, so I re-did all of those. At some point I said I was done, and here we are. Wasn't that a great story?

Kinda like having the orchestra stuff be more prominent for a change. I'm not very good at orchestration, and my VSTs are garbage, but I might try and do more covers like this.

$One Punch Man: The Ruler - Boros Theme Metal Cover The OPM OST is just so great, I cant help staying away from it for very long. I say it every time, but Makoto Miyazaki is a genius. Think this might be my favorite ost of all time, definitely one of my favorite shows. Anyways, I decided to do this cover for RichaadEBs contest because I thought it might push me to work harder / try different things / spend more time on it because these big Orchestral songs tend to give me more problems than say a traditional video game track. And it did! I easily spent at least twice as much time on this cover as far as virtual instrumentation/mixing/thewholeproduction aspect is concerned. I really wanted to get it to sound as full as possible, and to try and capture even a fraction of how great the song actually is. Really pushed myself / utilized about every trick/technique I know of while doing the virtual instruments, and Im pretty happy with the how it turned out. And of course, as it is a metal cover, tried to do as much as I could with guitars while maintaining a happy balance with the orchestral/electronic stuff.
