The OPM OST is just so great, I can't help staying away from it for very long. I say it every time, but Makoto Miyazaki is a genius. Think this might be my favorite ost of all time, definitely one of my favorite shows.
Anyways, I decided to do this cover for RichaadEB's contest because I thought it might push me to work harder / try different things / spend more time on it because these big Orchestral songs tend to give me more problems than say a traditional video game track.
And it did! I easily spent at least twice as much time on this cover as far as virtual instrumentation/mixing/thewholeproduction aspect is concerned. I really wanted to get it to sound as full as possible, and to try and capture even a fraction of how great the song actually is. Really pushed myself / utilized about every trick/technique I know of while doing the virtual instruments, and I'm pretty happy with the how it turned out.
And of course, as it is a metal cover, tried to do as much as I could with guitars while maintaining a happy balance with the orchestral/electronic stuff.
