After passionately following Pokemon speedruns online for about 5 years, I finally started doing one myself :)
This was back in 2023 already; I've played this game on and off since then. This is just the first public video I'm releasing for it, since I'm happy to see a pb again, even if it's not the kind of time I'm looking for. I resumed attempts only a few days ago, having to derust almost a year of not playing the game, and I got this on just the 3rd stream. Really happy with that!
I will go for around a 2:10; that would be a time I'm satisfied with. Pokemon speedruns are amazing, super fun to play, really interesting strategies, and FireRed with Charmander was my first ever Pokemon experience as a kid. It's beautiful to do the nostalgic experience justice like this :)
This run had a horrible earlygame, but I kept going, even if it only meant practicing the rest of the game more, since I was still derusting a little bit here and there. My Erika split in my old pb was very slow, so I always beat it, but then I also ended up getting gold Koga by hitting a lucky Muk range, gold Lorelei later on, and Champ was insane. I could only hyper potion on Pidgeot once and I was forced to risk a 63% range on Blastoise with Fire Blast, which can also miss. Then I not only hit that, but I crit the Arcanine, OHKOing it when it would've survived. That was awesome.
