What new podcast gear, software or apps have you tried (list them in the comments)?
As podcasters we are continually testing new items to help us improve the quality of our show or just make production easier. Those new things (gear, software, apps, etc.) might be as simple as a new service for recording Skype or as complex as a whole new hardware setup.
Join me (+Ray Ortega) +Daniel J. Lewis +Jason DeFillippo and others to find out what new tools we've tried, tested or bought to improve our productions.
This Round will be live today (02/05/15) at 4:30pm PST, 7:30pm EST, GMT-8 (time displayed on this Event page is adjusted for your timezone).
You can watch here on the Event page via the embedded player. This is also the best place to chat with the live audience and the Roundtable.
Mobile viewers can watch via YouTube: youtube.com/watch?v=rycwX6zIHsw

![How to Record Skype for Interviews Using Call Recorder for Mac
The easiest way to record Skype on a Mac is using Ecamms Call Recorder. Heres how you set that up. For an up to date list of Skype recorders on Mac & Windows, see below or visit http://thepodcastersstudio.com/recskype
If you want to record a Skype interview on a Mac, maybe for a podcast, the super simple way to get that accomplished is to use Call Recorder from ecamm.
Not only does ecamm record separated audio tracks for the most control over your audio in post production but it also does HD video to separate tracks as well. However, in this tutorial the focus is recording audio only and how to create the separate tracks for you to edit after the interview.
This video also shows you how to setup Skype audio preferences to get the best audio for both you and your guest.

![Audio/Video Q&A | 80D vs 60D ISO | Focusing DSLRs | Zoom H6 Levels | AVQA001
Questions about audio and video gear, lots of answers and lots of gear linked below 🔻 or see my AV Kits @http://kit.co/rayortega
How does the Canon 80D ISO compare to the Canon 60D, the camera that youve seen most on my channel? Great. I can get double the ISO capabilities from the 80D.
How do you stay in focus while moving in front of the camera with no camera person? Get a cam with really good AF like the Canon 70D or dont move.
Do I shoot in RAW or jpeg...for video? With cams like the Canon 60D and most others, you dont have an option; thats a photo setting.
Should I turn off image stabilization? If youre shot is already stabilized, yes.
Do you need an external microphone for filmmaking? Yes. In most cases, microphones inside the camera are not enough. The microphone in all cases needs to be close to the person talking. An external microphone, close to the person speaking is the best way to get good audio.
Do my Canon tutorial apply to all Canon cameras? Actually, sorta. With all my tutorials, my goal is to provide the kind of info that will allow you to not only setup your specific camera but also apply the principles taught to any video camera you use.
What lens can capture at least half of a body without being too far away? On a crop sensor camera like the 60D, 80D, a6500, etc., using a 30mm lens is a good start.
What if Im too new to use manual camera settings? Try. You cant learn to truly shoot manual until you try and make mistakes. Film a bunch of video that you never intend to publish and edit the video for practice and make sure to make mistakes so you know when you have gone too far. And have fun doing it!
Im having trouble focusing my DSLR. Is my camera broken? Maybe but probably not. Stop shooting at f2.8, 1.8, 1.4 etc. and choose an f-stop that places more of your image in focus like f4. You might be surprised how much better you actually like this.
How do I get good audio with a lens that has loud auto-focus? Get the microphone away from the camera, focusing manually or get an STM lens that is silent.
Whats the best setting for dialog on the Zoom H6? I try not to go past 7 on the gain dial but learning how to setup the gain properly is the important first step.
Should I use auto settings for vlogs? Yes. Use shutter priority. Set your shutter to 1/50 for 24p video, aperture, white balance, audio and ISO set to auto.
