Pocket Bomberman was originally made for the original monochrome Game Boy in Japan in 1997. One could see it as a 2D counterpart to Bomberman Hero, despite coming out a year earlier over there. In 1998, it was brought to the West as a GBC launch title, and with not only haphazard coloring, but they didn't even bother to redraw some of the graphics to not look awful with the GBC's palette constraints (see the banner in the Jump Game menu and score screens, or the clear pixels in many sprites).
Having grown fond of this oddity in the series, I decided to redo as many sprites and graphics to make the game look better on GBC, with plans to eventually redo every palette in the game.
If anyone wishes to help with the project, please do! I wanna make this game look better than what we got.
