Bloomberg: Bungie planning significant layoffs following end of Destiny 2 development. Destiny 3 is not in active production.
Bungie staff are pitching and prototyping new projects, including in the Destiny franchise, but none have been greenlit As a Destiny 2 player, it’s truly nonsense to blame the death purely on Marathon.
it is an easy scapegoat, but Destiny has been bleeding for many years. It lived way past Destiny 1. It has lived a long life. the fury that's about to come down on Marathon, which has been underperforming Destiny 2 in its worst content draught in history
Bungie made many decisions regarding the sandbox and expansions that continued to kill the player-base. I truly do mourn for the game we could’ve had.
I also don’t see Destiny 3 ever existing without Destiny 2 dying. The future remains uncertain and although frustrating, stay hopeful. Destiny 2 is ending. All expansions cancelled. No more content updates after this last one. It's over. A new report from Bloomberg claims that Bungie will suffer "significant" layoffs in the near future and that Destiny 3 is not actively in the works. This comes hours after Bungie confirmed that it would be winding down support for Destiny 2 after its next update, which is set to release in June.
Some feared this was a bad sign for Bungie's future, as Destiny 2 is its most popular active game. According to Bloomberg, Bungie leadership was evaluating ways to make Destiny 2 more accessible to new players, but ultimately decided to embrace Marathon and shifted developers and resources to the extraction shooter.
Bungie reportedly plans to continue pitching ideas in the Destiny universe, but there's no guarantee that they will be greenlit for full production due to a challenging market and econmic concerns. Currently, Bungie doesn't have another game lined up and there are no plans to enter development on Destiny 3 at this time. As of right now, Marathon will remain the focus for Bungie, with the studio hoping to increase player counts following a disappointing launch.
Bungie recently outlined its plans for the future of Marathon, confirming that it will be adding new PvE content that will appeal to players who don't care for PvP or extraction gameplay. There's also an effort underway to improve the onboarding experience to make the game less intimidating to newcomers. As of right now, it remains to be seen how effective this will all be, but it's clear that Bungie isn't throwing in the towel just yet.

About This Game
An all-new entry in the Onimusha series!
Fight through bloodstained battlefields of intense swordplay action. Explore the historic Japanese capital of Edo-period Kyoto, twisted by malevolent clouds of Malice.
With every stage cloaked in mystery, danger and intrigue. Battle against monstrosities from the underworld known as Genma in a tale of dark fantasy.
Follow the tale of a samurai who wields the Oni Gauntlet, a mystical artifact that grants its bearer the power to slay Genma.
Through gritty, blood-soaked brawls, he searches for his reason to fight. What fate awaits at the end of his path?
The Protagonist, Miyamoto Musashi
An ardent samurai who arrives in Kyoto looking to prove that he is unmatched in the way of the sword. However, the path before him takes a strange and unexpected turn.
The protagonist of this game is a fierce young samurai, constantly moving from one bloody and gritty fight to the next. To cement this image of a striking samurai, Capcom has turned to none other than the late, iconic Japanese samurai movie legend Toshiro Mifune to star as the face model for this rendition of Miyamoto Musashi.
Action
Equipped with an Oni Gauntlet, Musashi is granted power beyond human limits. Besides giving him the strength needed to cut down the Genma, it also holds numerous other abilities, such as being able to absorb Genma souls and convert them into a power source to further enhance its wearer. But who is behind the voice that rings out from the gauntlet?
Genma
Usually found dwelling in the lowest depths of hell, the Malice enveloping Kyoto has brought these fiends into the world of the living. Their ceaseless atrocities have plunged the capital into a state of dread and panic.
Formidable Foes After two decades, Capcom has returned with a new major installment in the Onimusha series. Onimusha: Way of the Sword aims to rekindle the interest of longtime fans while introducing the series to a new generation of players.
In his battle against the Genma threat, Musashi will face powerful opponents whose martial prowess rivals his own. Will he triumph, or die trying? Bloody duels to the death await in the capital.
Setting
Onimusha: Way of the Sword (鬼武者 Way of the Sword) is an upcoming action-adventure game developed and published by Capcom. As the first mainline installment in the Onimusha series since Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams (2006), the game is set to be released on September 4, 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S.
Gameplay
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is an action-adventure video game played from a third-person perspective. The game follows a samurai named Miyamoto Musashi (modeled after Toshiro Mifune), as he explores a dark fantasy version of Kyoto during the Edo period and combats rival swordsmen, demons and other supernatural threats.[2] Musashis primary weapon of choice is a sword, which can be used to strike enemies, parry their attack, or deflect incoming projectiles. A prolonged parry allows Musashi to steer his enemy, causing them to fall towards a certain direction.[3] Musashi can also enter a guard stance, which blocks attacks from all directions.[4] Striking and parrying will deplete an opponents stamina, allowing players to use Break Issen, a move which instantly executes an enemy by dismembering them. Performing consecutive parries or dodges grants Musashi combat buffs, enabling him to swiftly execute enemies in succession or unleash a multi-hit attack, respectively.[5] He can also use the environment to his advantage, such as flipping a table and using it as a temporary shield.[
The game is set in Kyoto, home to countless shrines and temples, such as Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Twisted by Malice, the face of the capital starts to take on an eerie and foreboding appearance My BRUTALLY Honest Review of Onimusha Way of the Sword!
