delay the PlayStation 6 and Project Helix indefinitely
both will be unaffordable until hardware costs return to normalcy and most will keep the box they currently have and any "next gen" game will be cross platform anyways
instead focus on further optimizing Gen 9 Jason Schreier:
“There is no case by case” for PlayStation single-player games — all are exclusive going forward
“There’s no ambiguity in their strategy. During a townhall a few weeks ago, Hermen Hulst told staff that their single-player narrative games will be PlayStation only, and he explained that they were inconsistent with their PC releases, they didn’t make enough money, and they want to keep their IP aligned to their own platform. Confirmed this with two people who heard him say it.” PS6 has not been "delayed" Reports coming out now are referencing analyst predictions.
Sony CEO Hiroki Totoki May 2026:
"We have not yet decided on at what timing we will launch the new console, or at what prices. So we would like to really observe & follow the situation." While Naughty Dog hasn't shown off Intergalactic: the Heretic Prophet for quite some time now, it seems the project might be further along than we think. PlayStation CEO: "For in-house singleplayer games, we will further refine the value of the gaming experience that PlayStation can offer. At the same time, we believe it is important for live-service games to reach a wider audience."
The most logical and transparent path imo. Sony making first-party singleplayer games exclusive also gives them more flexibility should the PS6 be delayed.
Exclusivity would be a bridge that connects the two gens.
PS5 would get more value if the gen is elongated, and if PS6 releases on time, the policy would carry over.

About This Game
An all-new entry in the Onimusha series!
Fight through bloodstained battlefields of intense swordplay action. Explore the historic Japanese capital of Edo-period Kyoto, twisted by malevolent clouds of Malice.
With every stage cloaked in mystery, danger and intrigue. Battle against monstrosities from the underworld known as Genma in a tale of dark fantasy.
Follow the tale of a samurai who wields the Oni Gauntlet, a mystical artifact that grants its bearer the power to slay Genma.
Through gritty, blood-soaked brawls, he searches for his reason to fight. What fate awaits at the end of his path?
The Protagonist, Miyamoto Musashi
An ardent samurai who arrives in Kyoto looking to prove that he is unmatched in the way of the sword. However, the path before him takes a strange and unexpected turn.
The protagonist of this game is a fierce young samurai, constantly moving from one bloody and gritty fight to the next. To cement this image of a striking samurai, Capcom has turned to none other than the late, iconic Japanese samurai movie legend Toshiro Mifune to star as the face model for this rendition of Miyamoto Musashi.
Action
Equipped with an Oni Gauntlet, Musashi is granted power beyond human limits. Besides giving him the strength needed to cut down the Genma, it also holds numerous other abilities, such as being able to absorb Genma souls and convert them into a power source to further enhance its wearer. But who is behind the voice that rings out from the gauntlet?
Genma
Usually found dwelling in the lowest depths of hell, the Malice enveloping Kyoto has brought these fiends into the world of the living. Their ceaseless atrocities have plunged the capital into a state of dread and panic.
Formidable Foes After two decades, Capcom has returned with a new major installment in the Onimusha series. Onimusha: Way of the Sword aims to rekindle the interest of longtime fans while introducing the series to a new generation of players.
In his battle against the Genma threat, Musashi will face powerful opponents whose martial prowess rivals his own. Will he triumph, or die trying? Bloody duels to the death await in the capital.
Setting
Onimusha: Way of the Sword (鬼武者 Way of the Sword) is an upcoming action-adventure game developed and published by Capcom. As the first mainline installment in the Onimusha series since Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams (2006), the game is set to be released on September 4, 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S.
Gameplay
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is an action-adventure video game played from a third-person perspective. The game follows a samurai named Miyamoto Musashi (modeled after Toshiro Mifune), as he explores a dark fantasy version of Kyoto during the Edo period and combats rival swordsmen, demons and other supernatural threats.[2] Musashis primary weapon of choice is a sword, which can be used to strike enemies, parry their attack, or deflect incoming projectiles. A prolonged parry allows Musashi to steer his enemy, causing them to fall towards a certain direction.[3] Musashi can also enter a guard stance, which blocks attacks from all directions.[4] Striking and parrying will deplete an opponents stamina, allowing players to use Break Issen, a move which instantly executes an enemy by dismembering them. Performing consecutive parries or dodges grants Musashi combat buffs, enabling him to swiftly execute enemies in succession or unleash a multi-hit attack, respectively.[5] He can also use the environment to his advantage, such as flipping a table and using it as a temporary shield.[
The game is set in Kyoto, home to countless shrines and temples, such as Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Twisted by Malice, the face of the capital starts to take on an eerie and foreboding appearance My BRUTALLY Honest Review of Onimusha Way of the Sword!
