Hi Guys and Gals here we have the Plarail Percy TS-06 from 2013, I bought this on ebay last year and have been waiting patiently until I could unbox and review it for you all! I have been away from youtube for quite some time but am happy to be back and have some great locos coming! Thanks all for your patience!
We are first confronted with the new style of packaging which shows animated Percy and the new item number in the plarail line TS-06. it is held in the packaging with foam blocks and no bag which is the new way I suppose.
Percy runs on a single AA battery as he always has and has the same type of early style drive unit that he has had since around 1993 (why change something that works so well?). Upon putting the battery in the unit runs smoothly and quietly with a good turn of speed.
The detailing is excellent with everything you would expect being added. The proprtions might not have changed since 1993 but the added painted detail is always welcome.
Percy comes with a Sodor fuel tank car and a troublesome truck which are both very nice but a return or an update of the mail van would have been superb as that seems to be all Percy really does these days in the show is deliver mail. But mail is of course very important! How else would I get my Plarail trains if there was no mail!?
He never really slipped up on the tracks at all with regular running being flawless except for his slight extra speed making him catch up to the train in front often! He got faster as the play session progressed also which is very nice.
There are other trains running, can you name them all?
Percy did work on the fisher price turntable to an extent but locos seldom work their first try and never really properly so that's kind of normal.
I give this Percy a 9/10
I can't really fault this set but I would like to see a mail car or 2 in future releases (Thomas gets both his coaches!)
