The Pilgrimage Church of Wies is a UNESCO World Heritage site unlike any other. It was built in the early 18th century to house a miraculous wooden statue of Jesus that appeared to be weeping, and has been a place of pilgrimage ever since. Even today, in this remote and quiet corner of Bavaria, over a million people each year make the pilgrimage. The interior of the church is absolutely incredible, fantastically-detailed Baroque stylings covering almost every inch of the walls and ceiling. Fascinating!
