Traveling from the Philippines to Borneo (Sabah, Kota Kinabalu). WHY YOU HAVE TO VISIT KK. Here is my first impression solo female traveling to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah in Malaysian Borneo. I didn’t know what to expect from Borneo travel, aside from the fact it has been my dream childhood destination to visit and I was very surprised by Kota Kinabalu and how incredible and developed it was.
I came to KK solo from Manila, The Philippines and as soon as I started the descend into Sabah I realised how amazing this region of the world is. Most of the island is very remote, covered by ancient, biodiverse rainforests, and it has species of animals (orangutan and proboscis monkeys, pigmy elephants, the Bornean sun bears, and others) only found on the island of Borneo.
Sabah also holds one of the best dive sites in the world, Sipadan Island and Mabul Island (Semporna Archipelago). This is the best trip of my lifetime and I feel very blessed that I have been able to do it as a solo female. Planning to Travel To Borneo? Here are my experiences, travel advice and tips.
