Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival brings you "Meet the Filmmakers" episode “Scarecrows”. Interview with the director Laila Pakalnina, interviewer Edvinas Pukšta

After you get on a plane and fly off to a new place to experience new things, the world outside the window begins to look strange — first you see cars growing smaller and smaller, then houses, and soon the whole city becomes unrecognizable. In the blink of an eye, there is nothing left but clouds.
But have you ever thought about the rest of nature that gets left behind and will never be able to board a plane? This documentary invites you to think about them — the birds, rabbits, and even the snakes trying to live a decent life near Riga Airport.
The award-winning Latvian director Laila Pakalnina enters PÖFF for the sixth time; her first film premiered here in 1998. Over the past 27 years, she has made a name for herself as one of Latvia’s most prolific directors, with more than 30 films in her filmography — and plenty more still to come.

Tallinna Pimedate Ööde filmifestival toob teieni saate “Meet the filmmakers”, peaosas film “Hernehirmutised”. Intervjuu filmi režissööri Laila Pakalninaga, kellega vestles Edvinas Pukšta.
Kuula kaasa ja saa vastused nendele põletavatele küsimustele:
1. Kas hernehirmutised on selle filmi kontekstis inimesed, loomad või hoopis lennukid?
2. Kui keeruline on saada erilubasid, et lennujaamas filmi teha?
3. Kas filmimise ajal juhtus loomadega seoses ka üllatusi või naljakaid lugusid?

See dokumentaalfilm kutsub Teid seda maailma avastama, mis Riia lennujaama peale lennuki tõusmist maha jääb.
Auhinnatud Läti režissöör Laila Pakalnina on oma filmiga PÖFFil juba kuuendat korda, tema esimene film linastus festivalil aastal 1998. 27 aasta jooksul on ta end Läti filmiajalukku kirjutanud kui üks viljakamaid filmitegijaid. Tema filmograafiast leiab üle 30 filmi ning loodetavasti lisandub neid palju veel.
