The World Premiere of the emotionally charged drama “The Moon is a Father of Mine”, a contender in the Official Selection – Competition, is a thrilling adventure that tests the boundaries of trust between a young Toma and his estranged father, Nemo, in their ancestral Georgian village. Set against the meticulously recreated political turmoil of 1991 when Georgia reclaimed its independence, the film is directed by George Ovashvili, an acclaimed filmmaker whose previous works, The Other Bank and Corn Island, have won major international awards, including the Crystal Globe at Karlovy Vary.

Loo tegevus toimub hoolikalt taastatud 1991. aasta poliitilise murrangu taustal, mil Gruusia iseseisvuse tagasi sai. Ovashvili on tunnustatud filmitegija, kelle varasemad teosed, Teine kallas ja Maisisaar, on võitnud olulisi rahvusvahelisi auhindu, sealhulgas Karlovy Vary filmifestivali Kristallgloobuse.
