๐ฃ๐ฒ๐ด๐ฎ๐๐๐ ๐๐ถ๐ฟ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ๐ ๐๐น๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐ ๐ด๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฎ was a scheduled domestic passenger flight from Ankara to Trabzon. The flight was being operated by a Boeing 737-800 (Reg. TC-CPF) on ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐ญ๐ฏ, ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ด.
The plane departed Ankara at 22:33 local time and made a straight in approach to runway 11 at Trabzon Airport and touched down at 23:25. About 2,400 metere past the runway threshold, the plane went off the left side. It travelled across the grass and went down a steep slope, coming to rest with the tail sticking out about 5 meters above runway level. The no. 2 engine broke away in the slide and fell into the sea. All 168 occupants survived and evacuated through the rear and overwing emergency exits.
Runway 11 is an asphalt runway with a Landing Distance Available of 2,640 meters. ILS is available for CAT I approaches. Elevation of the runway at the point of the excursion is 95 feet (28,90 meters) above sea level. Weather information at Trabzon Airport shows it had been raining there since about 22:10 with visibility deteriorating to about 4,000 meters at the time of the accident. One of the pilots claimed that an engine had a power surge, which caused the excursion via asymmetric thrust, however no investigation findings has been published confirming or refuting these claims.
