Some items can be broken to cast spells (this consumes the item in question); such spells (except the Gravity Rods Graviga) always deal maximum damage and ignore the targets Magic Def., Reflect, Trance and Shell statuses. The corresponding elemental rods cast level 2 spells, Holy and Poison (not Bio…which honestly makes that one pretty useless); the elemental shields cast level 3 spells. Theyre quite useful (albeit costly) if you can get enough of them, though not at all necessary. Stock up on the fire/ice/thunder rods before going to the Floating Continent if you want to do this, as theyre a lot more annoying to come by afterward.")

Mega Flare shouldve had defence-ignoring properties too…maybe Bahamut wouldnt be a waste of MP then.
