Peter Helland reads from John Fletcher's book, "American Patriotism Farther Confronted...." written in 1776 and Robert Lewis Dabney's essay, "Women's Rights Women." He titled the show after a dissertation from Baylor University in 2006 titled "Patriarchy and Politics." This dissertation centered on the opponent of John Locke, Sir Robert Filmer and Robert Lewis Dabney. Filmer and Dabney held to the Christian doctrine that government is ordained of God just as John Wesley and John Fletcher did. Without a literal, scriptural Adam and Eve it becomes logically impossible to support the father's authority in the home. Then with Father John Zahm bringing evolution to the University of Notre Dame in the late 1890's and thus eventually to the whole Roman Catholic Church the father's rule in the home was doomed. Dabney predicted that anarchy would result and that the only purpose of the "so called United States" was to be the scarecrow to the world and to let people know what happens if they follow the radical democracy that took over after the Civil War.
