Video sequences filmed on a 2-day photo charter at the Great Central Railway with British Railways locomotives 48305 and 49395, both in unlined early BR black livery. The aim of the charter was to try and recreate scenes of freight trains passing each other on a double-track mainline – easy said than done to get the timing right!
‘Super D’ 0-8-0 number 49395 and 2-8-0 8F are shown hauling mixed freights including a long rake of mineral (Windcutter’) wagons at various locations along the line.

BR 0-8-0 Class 7F number 49395 was withdrawn from service in January 2014 and is currently a static exhibit at the National Railway Museum, Shildon.
BR 2-8-0 Class 8F number 48305 is in the final stages of overhaul at the Great Central Railway.
