Video footage taken on part of a photographic charter entitled ‘Welsh Narrow Gauge Heaven 2022’ organised by Bob Branch and David Williams. Many thanks to them and all the railway staff for running this event which often took place under very challenging weather conditions. Sun was notable by its absence most of the time!
The first part of the video features the Welsh Highland Railway with scenes shot mainly in the Rhyd Ddu area with 'Russell' and 'Welsh Pony' in action hauling vintage passenger stock.
The second part of the videos focusses on the Ffestiniog Railway. ‘Merddin Emrys', 'Welsh Pony' and 'Palmerston' perform a number of runpasts at various locations along the line, mainly climbing around the spiral at Ddault, Minffordd and the steeply graded line around Moelwyn Tunnel. The runpasts feature the locos hauling various combinations of rolling stock including vintage carriages, slate and van wagons and 'bug boxes'.
