This trick is the final thing necessary to be able to skip Super Boots. We had all completely forgotten about the switch you have to spin jump on to reach the egg the intended way. Luckily this trick is not only faster, but also way cooler!
First I do a Paper Mode Item Jump onto the ice cream cone. This requires near frame-perfect mashing. Then I jump on the spot in Paper Mode, after positioning myself at the very top-left corner of the ice cream. I release R in mid-air, and then hold an angle close to up-left and press A on the first frame I touch the ground. This allows me to jump while in Paper Mode, but at full speed. Re-pressing R in mid-air and holding the correct angle means I can land on the front of the van and not fall off. After fully going back into Paper Mode I can just hold right to walk all the way up the front of the van onto the roof.
